About-Cylinder

Pressure Performer

For a company that started out with a Black & Decker workmate and a hydraulic bottle jack in 1994, the Cylinder Service Centre Ltd.has made remarkable progress. Continued growth in terms of turnover, staff, premises and services have seen the company change beyond recognition from a one-man band into a serious contender in the hydraulics field.

And the secret of the Cylinder Service Centre’s success? It is all about honesty and consistency combined with a fast & economical service

Large CylinderThe Cylinder Service Centre Ltd.offers hydraulic cylinder repairs and related services to players large and small in the manufacturing and off shore industries throughout the UK. Whether it be hydraulic cylinder manufacture , electro-plating , on-site repairs , or the supply of chrome plated bar and honed tube , the company has the expertise and capability to react swiftly and without fuss to the needs of industry.

The Cylinder Service Centre was quick to recognise that their customers require reliability and consistency above all else: “They need to know they can trust us to deliver on our promises.”

“A lot of our customers operate a just in time system and have no spare units for their production machines. They also have less maintenance staff to repair their hydraulic equipment and rely more on outside contractors to carry out repairs.

Confidence

"Clients need to have total confidence in their chosen hydraulics contractor, as equipment down time is becoming more costly. Slow or poor quality repairs can cost customers their livelihood.”

There’s no danger of that with Cylinder Service Centre which is why the company has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Its premises have expanded from a 1,500 sq ft unit to a 13,000 sq ft unit & now in a purpose built 24,000sq.ft unit with reinforced floors and multiple overhead travelling cranes. This facility is built on it`s own secure hard surfaced two acre site with excellent accessibility and comunications adjacent to the A1 motorway

Meanwhile, service levels and the ability to be at the forefront of key technical developments in the industry have provided vital impetus for expansion. The company can boast a unique hydraulic stripping rig which produces 150,000 ft lbs of torque. as well as one of the largest honing machines in the UK. In addition, there are state of the art testing rigs for all mediums and pressures

If you add to these the credibility afforded by an ISO 9001:2008 quality system , it’s easy to understand why Cylinder Service Centre has high hopes for the future.“It is our intention to become one of the largest companies of this type in the UK with the possibility of opening up more depots throughout the UK and possibly Europe.”

Already the Cylinder Service Centre has gained substantial recognition in the regional manufacturing arena, customers coming to appreciate its ability to handle projects of all sizes with speed, efficiency and at a competitive price.

Changing Needs

The demise of mining and heavy industries in recent years has brought about substantial changes in the hydraulic repair industry yet the Cylinder Service Centre has responded by meeting the changing needs of industry.

It currently has the capability of accommodating all the needs of our customers in the offshore and shipping industry and is confident of gaining substancial contracts there over the next few years. The way this will be achieved is by continued investment. There are already plans to further develope our 2 acre site in Washington making it one of the largest facilities of its type in Europe. M.D. Mr Davison concludes: “We will always need to keep investing in people and machinery in order to stay ahead of the competition.”
